In case you encounter any difficulties joining a session in Clickmeeting, here is a troubleshooting list that you may find helpful:

  1. In some cases it might take several dozen seconds before the room loads. If you are stuck on the loading screen try refreshing the page (CTRL+F5 on Windows or Command+R on Mac)
  2. Check your internet speed/quality and system: https://utilities.clickmeeting.com/connection-tester
  3. It is important to disconnect from any VPN servers you might be using and make sure your firewall is configured properly. If connecting from a corporate network make sure to forward the Firewall configuration to your IT department
  4. Disable your browser’s ad/cookie blocker
  5. If the problem persists try using a different browser. If that helps it means the original browser is causing the problem. Try clearing its cache and cookies to fix the problem
  6. Try using a different internet connection (ex: mobile hotspot). If that helps it means your original internet connection is causing the issues (potentially the VPN setup).

QCon Plus features scheduled unconference sessions. These facilitated sessions are designed to bring together groups of individuals to work on a crowd-sourced agenda of topics. These provide valuable opportunities to learn and connect with peers.

You can continue the conversation after each session by joining the Hangout with the Speaker in a zoom room. Attendees and speakers will be stopping by to chat. Please note that a zoom meeting room will open when joining. Please join the meeting muted and unmute yourself to talk. Important: The latest version of zoom is required.

We designed QCon Plus as a place where everyone feels safe to express themselves, learn, and succeed in adopting new technology and practices. We enforce this through the QCon Plus Code of Conduct to provide a safe and inclusive learning space for our thousands of inspiring attendees.

By joining QCon Plus, you agree to our Code of Conduct. All QCon participants, speakers, sponsors, and staff are required to abide by our code of conduct.

Once registered, attendees will get access to the sessions included in their ticket according to their ticket type.

For all the Sponsored Webinars and Workshops, attendees will be asked for their consent to be contacted by the sponsor. This opt-in happens on the schedule page or directly on the Sponsored Session page. We recommend you opt-in for the Sponsored Webinars and Workshops early as the capacity for these is limited.

While it is possible to join the event on your phone or tablet, we highly recommend participants to join by desktop to have access to all the functionalities and for better user experience.

Attendees will be able to log in with no more than one device at a time.

While we won't provide live closed captioning, this feature can be enabled in google chrome and will work for the presentations and panels happening in clickmeeting. Here is how to enable automatic closed captioning. The automatic closed captioning feature is also available in Zoom and attendees can enable or disable it by clicking the CC button.

There are many ways to ask our speakers questions.

During talks. Use our text chat to ask the speaker a question. Speakers may answer your question there or raise them following their talk.

Speaker Q&As. After each talk, we have a dedicated speaker Q&A. You can raise questions in our chat. The Track Host will surface questions from the chat for our speakers to answer.

Hangouts with Speakers. Join speakers and other attendees to continue the conversation and ask further questions. These sessions take place in Zoom so you can ask questions on camera or in chat.

Panel discussions. Raise your questions through our chat feature. The host will surface those questions for our panelists to answer. Some speakers may also answer questions in the chat.

Slack. QCon Plus uses a dedicated event Slack. You can raise questions for speakers and other attendees in public channels.

We moderate all questions and follow a strict code of conduct for our events.

No. Most sessions do not require you to be on camera.

You can be on camera for some sessions we run, such as Hangout with the Speakers and Unconference sessions.

To build your QCon Plus Schedule, simply log in and from the schedule page, flag the sessions that interest you the most. Enable the Custom Schedule View on the top right corner.

During the conference, you can attend the presentations that interest you the most. You can attend presentations from the same track or from different tracks according to your preference.

Note: Hangout With the Speakers, Unconference Sessions, and Sponsored Workshops will be kept live and video recording will not be made available for those. Therefore, we encourage you to attend these sessions the day they are scheduled.

The schedule shows each time slot both on EST and local timezone. This way, if you are not based in a location that follows EST, it will be easier for you to see the local time and plan your day. We collect the local time that your browser/system is reporting, so if what appears as “local time” is not your real local time, please update your browsers/systems timezone settings.

QCon Plus sessions include:

Keynote(s). Keynotes inspire and help examine some of the major trends in technology in interesting and fun new ways. QCon aims to create unifying experiences with its keynote series by presenting and contextualizing historical elements of software development or innovations and forward-thinking.

Talks with live Q&As. Talks with live Q&As are designed as two distinct elements to aid your learning: presentations and questions and answers (Q&A). Each is designed to give a deep dive into a specific topic followed by Q&A to help broaden the conversation on a given topic.

Hangout with the Speaker. You can continue the conversation after each session by joining the Hangout with the Speaker in a Zoom room. This lets you connect with speakers and other attendees. It also offers an opportunity to raise further questions following a talk.

Unconference Sessions. These facilitated sessions are designed to bring together groups of individuals to work on a crowd-sourced agenda of topics. These provide valuable opportunities to learn and connect with peers.

Sponsored Webinars are 40-minute technical presentations comprising a 20-25 min presentation, followed by a 20-25 min, moderated Q&A with the speaker, who will answer questions from the attendees. The speaker and content of the presentation are provided by one of the conference sponsors. Sponsored webinars are free to attend; however, you must opt-in (agree to share your contact details) with the sponsor. You can opt-in to sponsored webinars via the QCon Plus schedule, or via the sponsored webinar landing page(s).

Sponsored Workshops are highly interactive, two-hour, hands-on sessions where attendees will learn about a new tool, technology, or methodology. The speaker and content of the sponsored workshop are provided by one of the conference sponsors. Sponsored workshops are free to attend; however, you must opt-in (agree to share your contact details) with the sponsor. You can opt-in to the sponsored workshop via the QCon Plus schedule, or via the sponsored workshop landing page(s). Please opt-in as soon as possible, as these have limited capacity.

During the event, registered attendees should log into their QCon Plus account to access the live sessions and exclusive content. All participants should have received an email with their login details. If you can’t find that email, check your spam folder. Alternatively, you can reset your password.

QCon Plus was designed as a website that serves as the main gateway to the conference experience from where all presentation and meeting links will be made available. ClickMeeting and Zoom will be used for QCon Plus. While no software download is necessary for ClickMeeting, attendees will need to download the latest version of Zoom to benefit of all the event features.

QCon Plus allows you to work the event around your schedule:

  • Each day of talks features 3 core topics. Each topic has 4 presentations with live Q&A.
  • To attend a single live topic will require 4 hours. To attend all the technical talks live, you will require 16 hours.
  • In addition to the live technical talks, the conference offers peer-sharing opportunities (Unconferences sessions, hangouts with the speaker to continue the conversation, and a dedicated Slack group). Some of these take place between talks or async.

Talks will be available on-demand so you'll be able to catch up on the sessions you missed. Viewing time for all the technical content is around 48 hours - all these sessions you will be able to watch at your own pace. Video recordings will be available within days and will remain available for 3 months.

Sponsored Workshops, Hangouts with the Speakers and Unconference Sessions will be kept live and video recording will not be made available. Therefore, we encourage you to attend these sessions the day they are scheduled.
